              Naples, Italy 27 August 2023

Located under the shadow of Vesuvius, Naples is the most vibrant city in Italy—a steaming, bubbling, reverberating minestrone in which each block is a small village and everything seems to be a backdrop for an opera not yet composed. It's said that northern Italians vacation here to remind themselves of the time when Italy was molto Italiana - really Italian. In this respect, Naples doesn't disappoint: Neapolitan rainbows of laundry wave in the wind over alleyways, mothers caress children, men break out into impromptu arias at sidewalk cafés, and street scenes offer Fellini-esque slices of life. Everywhere contrasting elements of faded gilt and romance, grandeur and squalor form a pageant of pure Italianità, Italy at its most Italian.

     PRINCESS TOUR:  CAPRI (9HRS)

This craggy, whale-shaped island has an epic beauty: cliffs that are the very embodiment of time, bougainvillea-shaded pathways overlooking the sea, trees seemingly hewn out of rock. Capri has always been a stage shared with the “beautiful people,” often an eclectic potpourri of duchesses who have left their dukes at home, fading French film stars, pretenders to obscure thrones, waspish couturiers, and sleek supermodels. Truth be told, Capri is what you want it to be.

                                                     TOUR DETAILS

Capri

The stunningly beautiful isle of Capri is accessible by hydrofoil/jet boat ride and cable car. Upon arrival at this iconic resort, on the less populated west side, you'll find the town of Anacapri situated high up in the hills and the grounds of the Villa San Michele. On the east side, the iconic town of Capri is home to the exclusive boutiques and shops of the rich and famous and the Gardens of Augustus.

A lush setting situated atop a sheer cliff provides a striking vantage point where you can take in the dramatic views of the turquoise sea below and the Faraglioni stacks, three rock pinnacles formed over time by erosion from the wind and sea.

Villa San Michele

Built by Swedish physician and author Axel Munthe, this stunning manor is located on the same site where the villa of Roman emperor Tiberius once stood. The villa's grounds offer panoramic views from its commanding vantage point perched atop the Phoenician Steps that connect Anacapri and Capri town. Stroll the gardens and experience a sense of antiquity as you gaze upon statues and relics that date back to ancient Egypt.

The heart of the town of Capri, the plaza's name refers to the square's tiny size, but there's plenty of life to be found here among the colorful cafes. This hub of activity is the perfect spot for people watching and socializing. Climb the stairs from the piazzetta to discover the lovely 17th-century Cathedral of Santo Stefano.

What you see along the way:

The island of Capri is one of the most beautiful and visited destinations in Campania. In ancient times, it was made famous in Homer's Odysseus, as it is here that the hero narrowly escaped the song of the sirens. The magical charms of the island continue to enthrall visitors. The rocky caves along the water's edge, the deep blue sea and its crystal coves have inspired poets, writers and artists through the years.

     The ship sails at 6:00PM

Dinner at 8:30PM in the Capri diningroom

After dinner there is a show in the main show lounge.
